On October 21-22, 2023, a remarkable event took place in the town of Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan, Philippines. The sacred grounds of Our Lady of Piat Shrine set the stage for the “Christian Youth Action for Nation Building” seminar. The event’s theme, “Ignite, Inspire, Impact: Building Together a Heavenly Community,” captured the spirit of the occasion, which was organized collaboratively by the Pacific Christian Leadership Conference, Mahal na Birhen ng Piat Foundation Inc., Youth Christian Leadership Conference, and Family Federation for World Peace. This peaceful and calm setting was an ideal setting for a group of roughly 50 bright and dedicated youth participants.

Day 1 – October 21, 2023

The seminar opened with a spiritual journey as participants gathered at the UPF Peace Embassy. En route to the shrine, a significant stop at the Sta. Monica Parish in Angat, Bulacan, emphasized the importance of faith and community.

Upon arrival at Our Lady of Piat Shrine, participants were warmly welcomed and engaged in team-building activities, fostering togetherness and preparing them for the seminar’s objectives.

In an afternoon session, Dr. Edgar Tanate,s “Lecture 1: Universal Principles” kicked off the educational portion of the program. Dr. Kittel’s presentation was an in-depth examination of universal values. His words struck a deep chord with the audience, resulting in significant group discussions and reflection. It was an intellectual trip into the heart of living a life with a purpose.

Following that, “Lecture 2: Servant Leadership” by Rev. Fr. Egal de Jesus elaborated on the leadership principle, emphasizing unselfish service. This talk instilled in the audience the values of humility, compassion, and service to others. Following group discussions and reflections, participants were able to explore deeper into the topics that were given.

The day culminated with the Galilee Home Visitation, translating newfound knowledge into meaningful community service. A bonfire and the Brotherhood and Sisterhood Ceremony celebrated unity and diversity. A cultural night allowed participants to showcase their unique talents and cultural backgrounds.

Day 2 – October 22, 2023
The second day commenced with a morning devotion, setting the tone for personal reflection and well-being. Engaging in physical activities, participants then planted trees, symbolizing their commitment to the environment and community.

An evaluation session allowed for reflection, acknowledging personal growth within each participant.

Rev. Ronnie D. Sodusta’s afternoon lecture, Lecture 3: Becoming Owners of the Culture of the Heart (Hyojeong), was a culminating moment of intellectual study. Rev. Sodusta’s sermon was a strong invitation to embrace a culture of love, urging people to have a lasting effect on the world. The group conversations and reflections that followed allowed the group to go even deeper into the profound insights given by Rev. Sodusta.

The program closed with a solemn Holy Mass and a closing ceremony, leaving participants transformed personally and collectively.

The “Christian Youth Action for Nation Building” seminar was truly transformative. It ignited a spirit of service, inspired with wisdom, and empowered young participants to make a lasting impact. As they bid farewell, they carried not only memories but also the fire of inspiration. This event lived up to its theme of “Ignite, Inspire, Impact,” promising enduring positive change in the hearts and actions of these dedicated youth. In a world rife with challenges, it stands as a beacon of hope, reminding us of the change that committed and inspired young people can bring. This seminar nurtured future leaders committed to a heavenly society built on love, compassion, and service.
